COUNSELING

Transition to Motherhood
and the Early Years

Counseling for new parents in Winter Park, Florida

The way you're feeling now doesn't have to define your experience.

You've always wanted a family, but the reality of motherhood can feel very different than what you expected. Maybe you feel overwhelmed, isolated, stretched thin, or find yourself missing pieces of who you were before becoming a parent.

Therapy offers a place to slow down and make sense of the emotions that come with this transition. In a compassionate and supportive space, we’ll process difficult thoughts and feelings, reduce self-blame and pressure, and help you reconnect with yourself so you can move through motherhood with more confidence and support.

How I help

I help women in their journey to motherhood and in the transition period that follows. Motherhood is beautiful and exciting but also messy and unpredictable. That can be hard for women who are used to having it all together and who thrive on predictability. I’ll help you establish boundaries, release the guilt, and stabilize your mood so you can feel like yourself again.

I use a client centered approach which means I create a very personalized healing plan for each client I work with. I pull from a solution focused and cognitive behavioral background to help you feel better faster. We will identify your negative thoughts/beliefs and create a new narrative. There’s a potential for using EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) to process negative beliefs you’ve developed about yourself so that you can release the past and grow into the best version of you.

When we begin working together I want to spend time getting to know you. I want to hear your story: your strengths, your support system, the idea of of what you dreamed parenthood would be and what the real experience has been like. My goal is for you to feel heard and seen in our sessions together and to develop hope that things will feel better.
